Save Tiny Cat! is a roguelite action game where you play as a stick figure traversing dungeons in order to find and save his pet cat. Fight monsters and demons to collect dust and powerups and become strong enough to save Tiny Cat (to progress faster, press "L").  Developed in Godot using GDscript, a Python-derived language.


Controls:

WASD - Movement

Space - Dodge

Left Click - Attack

Right Click - Parry

E - Open Chest

L - Add Dust (to skip grind)

Q - Summon Fish (if unlocked)

F - Fire Flintlock (if unlocked)


Powerups (Last until death):

Adrenaline Pen - Attack 50% faster

File - Deal 25% more damage

Protein Bar - Gain 25% more max health

Fish Can - Summon a fish near you! (water not included)

Flintlock - Fire flintlock bullets that deal 75% of your damage

Lock In - Parry lasts 30% longer

Glass Shard - 2x damage, 0.5x health

Big Hamburger - 2x health, 0.5x damage

Save Tiny Cat! is my first ever game, and it is very simple as a result. It started as a class project that I made in Game Maker, but I remade it in Godot recently in order to learn the engine. I drew every sprite myself (I'm sure you can tell) in order to understand what it is like to do sprite work. All music and sound effects are from pixabay.com. The game is playable, but missing a few things. I haven't decided whether or not to continue the project, but if I do, here are some features that will be added:

  • Cutscenes/Animations
  • Smoother transition when dying
  • Tutorial/Clearer Objectives
